In 2003, with the help of Nelson Bays Arts Marketing, an initial network of tutors based in Nelson-Tasman was set up. Today, Nelson Bays continues to be the home of Creative Tourism and the network is expanding: Christchurch, Central Otago, Marlborough Sounds, Waikato and Taupo now offer creative workshops to visitors and we welcome workshops in all regions of New Zealand.

CTNZ has two main roles:

1. We find suitable tutors and encourage them to join CTNZ
2. We promote their workshops to overseas visitors and New Zealanders principally through our website with its expanding range of links from high-profile sites.

Although the word ‘tutor’ may sound rather formal, most CTNZ tutors are NOT trained teachers - and you certainly don’t need to be. Tutors are local people, from all walks of life, who know their subjects well and enjoy sharing their knowledge imaginatively with visitors from around the world.
